Agenda: May, 08

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: Virginia Simpson is Relationships Manager for Greenfleet, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to reduce the impact of transport on the environment. Greenfleet’s message is to avoid creating an emission wherever you can, to keep trying to reduce the emissions that you produce and then finally to offset the greenhouse gas emissions that you do generate.

Greenfleet was the first organisation in Australia to plant carbon sinks to offset greenhouse gas emissions, planting permanent native forests of more than 3 million trees in degraded areas in its first ten years. A further million native trees will be planted in 2008 – the equivalent of taking 58,000 cars off the road for a year.

The Greenfleet Technology Class of the World Solar Challenge is a key activity to showcase new fuels and technologies and Virginia will talk about what’s involved in this epic journey across Australia .

OTHER AGENDA ITEMS

We now have the plans for the Patterson Air wing and that is ready for fabrication as indicated above. Group funding can be an option. Possibly $300 for foam, epoxy and ply wood.

GEET plans have also arrived and looking for a keen fabricator. We still have to chase up a suitable engine as a test bed. An early model Sabaru flat engine is ideal for many applications and if any one can chase one up that would be good and then have it mounted on a suitable stand. This then can be used as a test bed for a variety of HOH and fuel experiments before actual testing on a vehicle. Also a 140 Volt 100 Amp DC Generator is on the list for the charging unit to suit the Hybrid Electric Vehicle we hope to enter in the Green Fleet Race.

DISCUSSION: Re funding options as a group for various projects such as the Air wing and Hydroplaz units if we decide to go ahead on those items as well as the further parts required for the Boyce System.

We are now looking at the possibility of using the services of a professional fund raiser for the Green Car project but that will take time. In the mean time we can fund these smaller projects which are vital components for the Green car Project and the technology that we can all use as petrol prices soar. .

Don’t forget to bring your projects and ideas for what will be a most interesting meeting.
